Synopsis
Based on a true story from 1965, "An American Crime" tells the story about a young girl named Sylvia (Ellen Page) and her sister, Jenny (Hayley McFarland), who are daughters of carnival workers who are left in the care of one woman named Gertrude Baniszewski (Catherine Keener) while their parents are away on an extended trip in Indianapolis. What follows is the true story of how Sylvia was murdered.
